Do your holiday shopping and support Haiti!

holiday saleVolunteers will be selling metal art and other Haitian handicrafts on Saturday, December 8th, 10 am-2 pm at the Parish Hall Theater, 76 Congress Street, Munjoy Hill in Portland.  St Lawrence Arts has generously donated their space for this annual holiday sale held by Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership.

Haitian artisans create these beautiful metal pieces from 55-gallon steel oil drums that have been cleaned, flattened, cut by hand, and intricately patterned. Konbit Sante buys the art directly from the artists for a fair price and then uses the profits from the sales to help Haitians live longer and more productive lives. Depicting a variety of motifs including trees, birds and other animals, mermaids and angels, as well as scenes from daily life, these artworks are a tribute to the Haitian people's ability to create beauty in the face of adversity. Prices range from $5-$100.
