Konbit Sante Surgical Team Leaves this Week for Cap-Haitien, Haiti
Dr. Samuel Broaddus, urologist with Maine Medical Center and long-term Konbit Sante Board member and volunteer, leaves Thursday, February 4 for Cap-Haitien, Haiti with a surgical team to help treat people injured in the January 12 earthquake. Another member of the team will be Dr. Brad Cushing, Chief of Surgery at Maine Medical Center, who is working with Dr. Broaddus and colleagues at Justinian University Hospital in Cap-Haitien on a plan to improve surgical care.
The team will also include Dr. Matt Camuso, an orthopedic trauma surgeon, Linda Ruterbories, R.N. and Joanne LeBlanc, R.N. from Portland-based Orthopaedic Associates, and post-surgical/wound care specialist nurses from Maine Medical Center, Marieta Atienza, RN and March Truedsson, RN. The group leaves from the Portland Jetport.
