Spinal Cord Rehab Center Set To Open

spinal cord wExecutive Director Nate Nickerson recently reported from Haiti that UN officials visited the new spinal cord rehabilitation center that has just been completed. The center, a joint project between Konbit Sante and Haiti Hospital Appeal, was partially funded by MINUSTAH, the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti. It will serve up to 20 inpatients, and many more outpatients. This is a direct outgrowth of our efforts to address healthcare infrastructure after the earthquake, and is the only facility of its kind in Northern Haiti. This center will serve people with serious spinal injuries into the future. Nate reports that the UN visitors were very impressed with the project.

Graduation for Community Health Workers

ADS grad wDr. Youseline Telemaque, Konbit Sante's In-Country Program Manager, recently organized a gala celebration for 25 new graduates of the training program for community health workers known as agents de santé (ADS). The rigorous 3-month training was a funded by the UNDP, and administered by Konbit Sante. The graduation was well attended by civil and government dignitaries, family members and those organizations hiring the new ADS. Konbit Sante employs 16 ADS who perform important work at the Justinian Hospital, the Fort St. Michel Clinic and really are the cornerstone of our health outreach and intervention in the community.
